What miracle has God done in your life?

Miracles.

Proof that God exists, right?

I mean, for there to be a supernatural entity, we must witness supernatural things.

Then, once we witness such events, we can prove God exists.

and everyone will be happy.

hmm…

forgive me, but I don’t think it works that way.

Let me start by saying I fully believe in miracles. I don’t doubt that Jesus rose from the dead, or that the LORD spoke to Moses through a burning bush, or that David killed Goliath with just a smooth stone to the face.

What I do want to convey is sometimes I think we’re a little miracle crazy.

We want to see things that are completely unimaginable, unreal.

We chase after the hand of God, not his heart.

I think first and foremost, we need to pursue a relationship with God. Then, experiencing his miracles will be even sweeter. I don’t think it works the other way around.

It’s like the kids from “My Super Sweet Sixteen” or “Sixteen and Pregnant”.

…Funny how both shows from MTV center around that crucial age.

I wonder if anyone will ever be on both shows at once.

…You know, like they’re with child but also have a huge party?

They could run a two hour special: “My Super Sweet Sixteen Pregnancy”

Although it kinda sounds like “Sixteenth Pregnancy”. Which would be entirely different, and most likely biologically impossible at the age of sixteen.

Anyways.

So the kids on these shows are pretty easy to dislike. They seem to only care about their parents when they buy them things. It’s like “Mom, if you don’t buy me a Lexus that I can’t even drive yet, you will ruin my 16th birthday.”

…how tragic is that?

Can you imagine as a parent, having your child say that to you? That you’re only worth having around because you have a credit card? That with a magical swipe of a piece of plastic, you can give your children something superficial to gawk at.

Until they’re bored with that.

And they don’t love you anymore.

Until you buy them something else.

I think that’s why God isn’t in a hurry to prove he exists, to show the world that he can do things we can’t even imagine. I don’t think he wants to be this distant figure that just makes us temporarily happy with glitz and glamor. I think he wants something deeper, and real.

So. That’s my quick spin on miracles.

I’m not saying the person who asked this question is miracle crazy.

Even if they were, that’d be weird to ask me specifically…

“Oh… I wonder if God ever saved Robert from a burning building… or if a stray bullet narrowly missed some of his vital organs.”

But yes, moving on… miracles in my life!

Unfortunately, I don’t have any awesome stories of supernatural survival. My life has been pretty sheltered and consistent.

Not a whole lot of danger coming my way.

I know this disappoints all you ladies, but I’m being honest.

Girls like that too, right?

So late at night when I’m working at the library, the same custodian always walks in. We’re pretty much friends now so we talk every now and then. He always asks me if I need extra paper towels. Super nice guy.

Anyways, one day he happens to mention he had knee surgery about a year ago and his knee was bugging him. He told me sometimes he’ll wake up and it’ll just… hurt. Then, sometime during the day, something will kinda… pop and his knee will be fine. It’s like his knee needs to figure out how to pop itself back into position or something.

No, this isn’t a miracle healing story.

But it did get me thinking.

I have never woken up having to worry about that. I’ve never woken up and thought “Wow, I hope my knee is in its right place.”, or bent down to pick something up, worried my knee would give out.

If you ask me, that’s a miracle.

But Robert!

Most people don’t have knee problems! It’s only a miracle if it’s rare, uncommon, and unexpected!

I don’t think so. Not in this context.

To me, the fact that my knees are perfectly fine, that’s a miracle.

It is a miracle that my heart has never stopped beating in twenty years of life.

It is a miracle that I wake up every morning and I don’t have to worry about where I find my next meal.

It is a miracle that I don’t have to worry about being someone else’s next meal. (like animals in the jungle or something)

The fact that I am completely alive and well is a miracle I enjoy every day.

My God takes care of me.

Miracle.

You know you want to…
